Biodegradable and Compostable Seedling Pots

What are becausewecare Compostable & Biodegradable Seedling Pots?

becausewecare Compostable & Biodegradable Seedling Pots are an environmentally friendly alternative to peat and plastic seedling pots. They are designed to be buried in soil with a seedling. Over time, the pots will break down without harming the soil, worms or micro-organisms surrounding your flourishing plant.

What are they made from?

Our Seedling Pots are made from a combination of corn starch and biodegradable and compostable components.

How do they break down?

A combination of heat, moisture and microbial action will break the pots down into humus, CO2 and H2O.

How long will it take for the seedling pots to break down?

Depending on the weather conditions, becausewecare™ Seedling Pots will start to break down in anywhere between 2-6 months.

Are these seedling pots certified compostable?

Yes, becausewecare Compostable & Biodegradable Seedling Pots are certified compostable and biodegradable to various worldwide standards of compostability including the European Standard EN13432-2000. This means that in industrial compost, our seedling pots will completely break down within 45 days – about the same time as a dry leaf!

What do I do with the packaging?

The bag that the seedling pots come in is made from the same material as the seedling pots. This means that it is also certified compostable to the European Standard EN 13432-2000. To dispose of it, simply remove the staples and throw the header card and compostable bag into your compost bin or green waste bin. *Be sure to confirm with your council that your local composting facility will accept compostable bags for process.
